A man detained at an immigration detention center in Georgia has died while a hunger strike among detainees continues, according to a Guardian report. The death comes as Immigration and Customs Enforcement faces ongoing scrutiny over conditions in its facilities and its handling of detainees under the Trump administration. The reported strike suggests mounting protest inside the center, with critics linking the death to broader concerns about medical care and treatment of immigration detainees.
Why now: The death of a detainee during an active hunger strike is drawing attention to conditions in US immigration detention.
