EPA plans to remove tens of thousands of archived documents
Original: The EPA is quietly killing its web archive
The Environmental Protection Agency is scheduled to remove tens of thousands of documents from its public web archive, including materials on contamination, clean power programs, and records of climate data deleted during Trump's first administration. Environmental journalists and researchers are raising alarms that the purge will erase valuable public records on pollution and climate policy, limiting transparency and public access to government information.
Why now: Reports that a federal agency is removing public environmental records have sparked concerns about transparency and the loss of climate-related information.
