US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has suggested that the war in Ukraine is 'all about Donbas,' a remark drawing attention amid ongoing debates over how a peace settlement could involve territorial concessions in eastern Ukraine. Commenters are weighing what the statement signals about Washington's negotiating position and Ukraine's resistance to ceding land.
Why now: Rubio's framing touches the sensitive question of whether US diplomacy would press Ukraine to give up territory.
