SNL U.K. Cold Open Skewers Burnham, Prince William and British TV

Original: ‘SNL U.K.’ Cold Open Spoofs Andy Burnham on ‘Gogglebox,’ Prince William on ‘The Graham Norton Show,’ ‘The Celebrity Traitors’ and More

The debut of the UK version of Saturday Night Live opened with a comedy sketch mocking prominent British figures and shows. Andy Burnham was spoofed on Gogglebox, Prince William appeared on a parody of The Graham Norton Show, and The Celebrity Traitors was also sent up, alongside other British television staples. The sketches have drawn attention as the long-running American comedy format launches a British edition, with viewers and critics reacting to its take on UK politics and royalty.

Why now: The launch of a British version of SNL and its satirical portrayal of high-profile UK figures is fresh and newsworthy.
