Viewers debate whether The Wicker Tree is worse than the Wicker Man remake

Original: I'm watching The Wicker Tree and I'm trying to decide if the Wicker Man remake is actually better than this dreary, wood

A viewer watching Robin Hardy's 2011 film The Wicker Tree is weighing whether Nicolas Cage's widely mocked 2006 Wicker Man remake might actually be better, calling The Wicker Tree dreary and woodenly acted with expository dialogue and nothing interesting thirty minutes in. The comment revives a familiar film-nerd debate: both follow-ups to the 1973 cult horror classic are widely considered disappointments, and fans keep comparing which falls further short.

Why now: The Wicker Tree's poor reputation keeps prompting horror fans to compare it with the reviled 2006 remake

Evidence

• I'm watching The Wicker Tree and I'm trying to decide if the Wicker Man remake is actually better than this dreary, wooden-acted, full-of-exposition-dialogue endeavour. It's not all bad ... but it's far from good. 30 minutes in and so far there's been nothing interesting. #… · lydiaconwell@todon.nl · 4
