FIFA president Infantino refuses to step down
Original: infantino
FIFA president Gianni Infantino says he has no intention of resigning, claiming he retains the support of a large majority within the organisation. The Asian football confederation has publicly backed him, while UEFA is demanding quick answers to what it calls fundamental questions. The divide among continental federations is keeping the FIFA leadership dispute in the spotlight.
Why now: Pressure on Infantino to resign is dividing football's continental federations, prompting public statements of support and demands for answers.
