Original: PHP Foundation 'under-funded' with one full-time staff member, director says
The PHP Foundation, the nonprofit that funds development of the PHP programming language, is under-funded, according to its director, who says it currently employs only one person full-time. The disclosure highlights the gap between PHP's enormous role in the web and the modest resources sustaining its core development, prompting renewed debate about how open-source infrastructure should be financed.
Why now: Concerns about the sustainability of funding for critical open-source projects resonate with developers, especially given PHP's widespread use across the web.
