Denmark quietly abandons plan to replace Microsoft Office
Original: Danish Government silently drops plan to dump MS Office
Denmark's Agency for Digital Government has quietly dropped a heavily publicised pilot project testing open-source alternatives to Microsoft Office, Danish tech outlet Computerworld reports. The attempt to move public-sector desktops away from Microsoft software was abandoned without a formal announcement, prompting criticism about transparency and renewed debate over the government's reliance on Microsoft.
Why now: People are discussing the government's silent retreat from a flagship open-source project and what it means for public-sector software procurement.
