A new open-source project called Sapio lets users check whether Android applications really work without Google Play services. The tool aggregates community reports on the compatibility of thousands of apps with de-Googled devices, with or without microG, helping people who run privacy-focused Android systems know what will function before installing it.

Why now: Interest in de-Googled, privacy-focused Android setups keeps growing, and users lack reliable information on app compatibility.
