Iran has detailed plans to hit Gulf undersea cables, officials say
Original: Iran has detailed plans to hit Gulf undersea cables if war resumes
Iran has drawn up detailed plans to attack undersea telecommunications cables in the Gulf if a renewed conflict with Israel or the United States breaks out, according to officials. The cables carry much of the region's internet and financial data traffic, so any strike could disrupt connectivity and markets across the Gulf states. Officials warn the plans signal Iran is prepared to target critical infrastructure in any future war.
Why now: Concerns are rising over Gulf infrastructure security amid fears of a renewed Middle East conflict.
