Posts are marking the anniversary of Saudi Arabia's admission to the United Nations on this day in 1945, while also drawing attention to sites in Virginia where some of the 9/11 hijackers stayed before the attacks. The combination of the historical milestone with references to the hijackings and criticism of the Saudi monarchy is prompting discussion of the kingdom's role in the September 11 attacks and its modern image.
Why now: The anniversary of Saudi Arabia's UN membership is being used to revive debate over the country's alleged connections to the 9/11 hijackers.
