Europe's satellite plans raise concerns in Washington
Original: Europe’s satellite push raises US concerns | DW News
Germany's DW News reports that Europe's push to build its own satellite capabilities is drawing concern from the United States. Washington is reportedly wary of European independence in space infrastructure, a development that could affect intelligence sharing, defence cooperation and the commercial dominance of US space companies. The report comes amid broader transatlantic friction over defence spending and technological self-reliance within the European Union.
Why now: Transatlantic tensions over European strategic autonomy and space-based defence capabilities are currently a live topic in EU and US politics.
