Commentary Urges Americans to Reject State-Sanctioned Executions
Original: Americans Should Reject All State-Sanctioned Murder, Live-Streamed or Not
A commentary from the Institute for Policy Studies and Foreign Policy in Focus argues that Americans should oppose all state-sanctioned murder, whether executions are live-streamed or not. The piece contends that capital punishment is state violence that should be rejected outright, regardless of how visible it is to the public. It calls for a blanket moral rejection of the death penalty rather than concern focused only on its most publicized forms.
Why now: The argument taps into ongoing debate over the death penalty and the ethics of publicizing executions.
