Nevada school safety tip system SafeVoice hit by data breach
Original: Nevada school safety tip system SafeVoice suffers data breach
SafeVoice, the anonymous tip line Nevada schools use to report safety concerns, has suffered a data breach. The state-run system allows students and community members to anonymously report threats, bullying and self-harm concerns. Officials have not yet detailed what data was accessed or how many users may be affected, and the news is raising concerns about the confidentiality of tipsters.
Why now: A breach of an anonymous school safety reporting system directly threatens the privacy and trust of students who submit tips.
