Warning issued over SSA emails promoting Trump Account app
Original: If you got an email from the Social Security Administration asking you to download the app for the Trump Account for you
A warning is circulating urging parents not to use the mobile app promoted in emails from the Social Security Administration for opening so-called Trump Accounts for their children, and to use the government website instead. Critics say the app could expose families to serious data privacy risks, collecting and monetizing sensitive personal information on minors.
Why now: Parents are newly receiving these SSA emails and are alarmed by the privacy implications of the app.
