Original: Adnkronos - ultimoratop: Attiviste italiane fermate in Cisgiordania. Farnesina: "Chiesti chiarimenti urgenti a Israele"
Two Italian activists were stopped by Israeli forces in the West Bank while accompanying Palestinian farmers harvesting olives in the village of al-Bweib, south of Hebron. Italy's foreign ministry says it has urgently asked Israel for clarifications about the detention. The incident comes during the annual olive harvest, a period marked by frequent clashes between farmers, activists and settlers in the occupied territory.
Why now: The detention of Italian citizens by Israeli forces has prompted an immediate diplomatic response from Rome.
