Paris protest set for October 24 as police voice concerns

Original: manifestation 24 octobre paris

A demonstration is planned in Paris on Saturday October 24. Non-specialised police officers have voiced unease about being requisitioned to police the march, saying they are not trained for it and do not want to be deployed. The officers' comments have fuelled debate about the use of regular forces at the event.

Why now: A major Paris demonstration is scheduled for October 24, and controversy over police requisitions is drawing attention ahead of it.
