FOSDEM drops DEIB room, community organizes its own

Original: RE: https:// narrativ.es/@janl/117484474907 395355 # FOSDEM will not have a DEIB room 😔 True to # DIY # OpenSource spiri

FOSDEM, the large annual free and open-source software conference in Brussels, will not host a dedicated room for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging sessions this year. In response, community members are backing an initial proposal for an independent DEIB room, backed by a pledge that asks attendees and projects to commit a minute or two of support, saying it fits the DIY open-source spirit.

Why now: The conference's decision to drop the DEIB room has sparked debate about inclusivity in open source, prompting a grassroots alternative.
