Medical students from 29 institutions in Thailand have urged a parliamentary committee to maintain the country's bans on importing and selling e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, warning against easing current restrictions. The joint appeal reflects concern among future doctors that loosening the rules would put public health, particularly young people's health, at risk.
Why now: Thai lawmakers are currently reviewing whether to relax the ban on e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, prompting organised opposition from the medical community.
