Typhoon Champi prompts work and class suspensions in Taiwan
Original: 停班停課
Typhoon Champi is approaching Taiwan, and local governments are announcing work and class suspensions as heavy rain is forecast across much of the island. Reports are tracking which of Taiwan's 22 counties and cities will call typhoon days, with attention on whether the Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung and Taoyuan areas will follow, and on the possibility of extended holidays as the storm's rainbands sweep the island on June 10.
Why now: People are checking whether their area has declared a typhoon day and how long the storm will disrupt daily life.
