Health insurer PacificSource is laying off 134 employees by the end of the year, according to a report by KGW. The company, which operates in Oregon, said the cuts are tied in part to its planned exit from the Montana market, with a spokesperson stating these are not decisions made lightly.

Why now: The layoffs and PacificSource's retreat from Montana are significant news for employees and health coverage in the Pacific Northwest.
