Original: New York’s first microdrama film festival searches for its audience… # technology # thegeektribune https://www. theverge
New York is hosting its first festival dedicated to microdramas, the short vertical-format series popularized on mobile apps. Organizers Alza Vertical Film Festival, backed by figures including former studio executive Bill Block and Salvador Paskowitz, are betting on the fast-growing format, but the event is still working out who its audience actually is, as industry watchers debate whether microdramas can cross over from phone screens to traditional film culture.
Why now: Microdramas are a rapidly growing entertainment format, and a first festival dedicated to them signals the industry's attempt to legitimize a new medium.
