Plex laid off its entire player team, user claims
Original: Plex laid off the whole player team
A claim circulating in tech discussions says Plex has laid off its whole player development team. The claim surfaced amid user complaints on Plex's forums about 4K Dolby Vision and HDR10 playback failures on the latest iOS and tvOS beta, where videos stall on an infinite spinning circle. Users are connecting the playback bugs to the reported departures, though Plex has not confirmed the layoffs or the cause of the issues.
Why now: Ongoing playback failures in Plex's latest iOS and tvOS beta have led people to link the bugs to reports that the entire player team was laid off.
