CounterPunch has published a piece titled 'Decoding Pro-Israel Buzzwords in a Time of Genocide,' which analyzes the language used in discussions of Israel and Palestine. Drawing on historian Rashid Khalidi's book 'Brokers of Deceit,' the article argues that US-backed terminology has long shaped and undermined Middle East peace efforts, framing Israel's actions in Gaza as genocide and critiquing the vocabulary used to defend them.
Why now: Ongoing coverage of the Gaza war keeps debate over pro-Israel framing and language highly active among left-leaning commentators.
