SEANF Removes Myanmar Human Rights Commission
Original: Myanmar Morning News | SEANF Removes Myanmar Human Rights Commission
Myanmar's military-appointed human rights commission has been removed by SEANF, the network of national human rights bodies across Southeast Asia, according to reporting from Myanmar news outlets. The move strips the junta-aligned body of regional membership, reflecting the network's rejection of a commission seen as lacking independence under military rule.
Why now: It signals regional human rights bodies formally distancing themselves from Myanmar's military government.
