Climate campaigners condemn approval of Jackdaw gasfield

Original: Climate campaigners condemn ‘maddening’ decision to approve Jackdaw gasfield By Fiona Harvey Environment editor Critics

UK regulators have approved the Jackdaw gasfield in the North Sea, prompting condemnation from climate campaigners who call the decision 'maddening'. Critics argue the project will jeopardise Britain's climate targets, do nothing to lower the cost of living, and distract from the urgent need to decarbonise the energy supply.

Why now: The approval comes amid an energy price crisis and growing scrutiny of new fossil fuel projects against UK climate commitments.
