UN Watch unveils database on funding of UN human rights experts at UK Parliament
Original: At UK Parliament, UN Watch Releases Database Exposing Who Funds UN’s Human Rights Experts
The watchdog group UN Watch launched a database at the UK Parliament that reveals which countries and organizations finance the UN's independent human rights experts, known as special procedures mandate-holders. The group argues the disclosures raise questions about impartiality at the UN Human Rights Council, and the release has drawn significant attention online.
Why now: Claims that UN human rights experts may be funded by interested states strike at the credibility of a major international body.
