Major flooding forces evacuations in southern Colorado
Original: flood
Severe flooding in southern Colorado has forced residents to evacuate, with water reaching up to seven feet inside some homes. Meanwhile, California is bracing for its first major storm of the rainy season, expected to bring heavy rain, a flood threat, possible tornadoes and snow in the Sierra Nevada. Rain has already begun moving into Ventura County as the system advances into Southern California.
Why now: Two concurrent weather emergencies — Colorado flooding and a storm bearing down on California — are driving widespread attention.
