Justice Kagan warns Supreme Court rulings fuel polarization

Original: Justice Kagan warns Supreme Court rulings are fueling polarization and undermining democracy

US Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly warned that the Court's recent rulings are deepening political polarization and eroding American democracy. Her remarks were carried widely across major US outlets including ABC News, AP and WTOP. Commentators see the comments as an unusually blunt critique of the conservative-majority Court by one of its own liberal members.

Why now: A sitting Supreme Court justice openly criticizing her own Court's decisions is rare and politically charged.
