Movie fans are revisiting the 1970 war caper Kelly's Heroes, the tale of American soldiers who slip away from their unit during World War Two to rob a bank behind German lines. One viewer joked about a 'remake' in which the crew's halftracks and Sherman tanks avoid being strafed by their own air support, noting the story would unfold very differently without that friendly-fire twist.

Why now: The film is being rewatched and discussed for its famous plot twist where American planes mistakenly destroy the heroes' tanks.

• Remake of "Kelly's Heroes", but this time their vehicles don't get blown up by American air cover. Much different narrative with a couple halftracks, one mounting a 75mm howitzer... then joined up to the Shermans. 😉 Guess what I'm watching (again) this evening? 🤣 # Movies #… · chessert@mastodon.online
