Tucson artist spotlights native Western Banded Gecko
Original: We see 2 species of geckos in Tucson—native Western Banded Geckos & non-native Mediterranean House Geckos. Since I like
An artist in Tucson, Arizona has shared a journal illustration of the Western Banded Gecko, a lizard native to the region. She notes the city is also home to the Mediterranean House Gecko, a non-native species, but chooses to feature native wildlife in her artwork. The post also points readers to her latest blog entry about the species.
Why now: Interest in local wildlife art and the contrast between native and invasive gecko species in Tucson.
