Bildt skips Shangri-La Dialogue for Tallinn cybersecurity meeting
Original: Sorry to miss #SLD17 and Singapore this year. Always interesting. But priority Tallinn, cybersecurity and @theGCSC . htt
Former Swedish prime minister and foreign minister Carl Bildt says he will miss this year's Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, an annual Asia security summit where North Korea is expected to dominate discussions. He is instead prioritising Tallinn, where he is involved with the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace and cybersecurity matters.
Why now: The Shangri-La Dialogue is a major annual security gathering, and Bildt's public choice of a cybersecurity event over it draws attention amid North Korea tensions.
