Colleges Urged to Comment on Optional Practical Training Fees
Original: Higher Education Institution Guidance to Submit Comments for Optional Practical Training Fees
The Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration has issued guidance to help higher education institutions submit public comments on proposed fees related to Optional Practical Training. The group is encouraging universities and colleges to weigh in on the rulemaking process, which would affect international students on F-1 visas who rely on OPT for work authorization in the United States.
Why now: A federal proposal to charge fees for Optional Practical Training has opened a public comment period, prompting immigrant and education groups to mobilize institutions to respond.
