Green alert issued as Ulúa River rises in Honduras

Original: vaguada

Honduras' emergency authority Copeco has issued a Green Alert due to rising water levels of the Ulúa River in the Valle de Sula. The alert follows warnings linked to a vaguada, a trough of low pressure bringing heavy rain across the region. Authorities are monitoring river levels as communities in the valley brace for possible flooding.

Why now: Heavy rains from a weather trough are raising flood fears in northern Honduras right now.
