Tracking tech is finally unravelling the mystery of bird migration

Original: For centuries, bird migration was a mystery – a tech revolution is changing that

New tracking technologies such as miniaturised GPS tags, radar and sensors are revealing where migratory birds actually travel, solving puzzles that puzzled scientists for centuries. Researchers say this data revolution could help conservation efforts by pinpointing critical stopover sites and threats along migration routes at a time when many bird populations are in decline worldwide.

Why now: Interest in how new technology is transforming long-standing scientific mysteries and aiding bird conservation.
