Website owners puzzled by strange subdomain links in traffic stats
Original: Hallo # Fediverse , seit ein paar Wochen sehe ich in der Statistik zu meiner Website immer so seltsame Links, zB a.edith
A website owner is asking the Fediverse about unusual referral links showing up in her site statistics, such as prefixed variants of her own domain like a.edithmair.at and other letter combinations. She wants to know whether these are hacking attempts, bots, or something else, and other users are discussing what these strange entries could mean.
Why now: Unexplained traffic patterns like odd referral domains often signal bots or scanning activity, and site owners commonly compare notes on whether to be worried.
