There Is No Official XScreenSaver GitHub Repository
A warning is circulating that the XScreenSaver project has no official repository on GitHub, despite a repository named 'xscreensaver-official' existing on the platform. The long-running Unix screensaver collection is maintained elsewhere, and the GitHub-hosted copy should not be treated as the project's official source. Developers are cautioning others not to trust or contribute to repositories impersonating the project.
Why now: Impersonation of an open-source project's official repository raises concerns about supply-chain safety and people mistakenly downloading code from the wrong source.
