Musk pledges to give a share of SpaceX to every American child
Original: Musk pledges to give a share of his SpaceX company to 'every kid in America'
Elon Musk says he will give a share of his rocket company SpaceX to 'every kid in America'. The pledge, reported by the Associated Press, would be an unprecedented giveaway of equity in one of the world's most valuable private companies. Details on how such a distribution would work, who would qualify, and what the shares would be worth have not been spelled out, and the announcement is drawing scrutiny and debate.
Why now: A pledge to distribute shares of a major private company to every American child is an extraordinary claim that raises questions about feasibility and motive.
