Donald Trump has endorsed Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel's election on October 27, calling him "a Great Warrior Prime Minister, and an even greater Partner for Peace in combatting the Islamic Republic of Iran." The endorsement, reported by AP, lands weeks before the vote and draws criticism from commentators who brand Netanyahu a warmonger and decry the praise as gruesome.

Why now: Trump's public backing of Netanyahu comes shortly before Israel's October 27 election and could influence the closely watched vote.
