Moldova has sent a protest note to Ukraine after an incident on the Dniester river, Radio Moldova reports. Ukrainian border guards crossed into Moldovan territory while pursuing a man along the river, prompting an official diplomatic complaint. The head of Moldova's parliamentary commission has been drawn into the discussion, and the incident is drawing attention in both countries.

Why now: A diplomatic protest between neighbours already under strain over the war in Ukraine naturally attracts attention.
