Online critics are attacking Donald Trump over his handling of the war in Ukraine, calling him a 'madman' and accusing him of being influenced by Vladimir Putin while setting Volodymyr Zelenskyy up to fail. Commenters contrast Trump with Zelenskyy, described as a heroic survivor, and Putin, praised by some of the same critics as a master strategist. The comments use mocking hashtags such as #TrumpVirus and reflect ongoing anger over US policy toward Ukraine.

Why now: Fresh controversy over Trump's approach to the Ukraine war and perceived deference to Putin is driving angry reactions online.
