House Bill Would Let Veterans Collect Full Pension and Full Disability Pay

Original: More Veterans Would Get Full Military Pension Plus Full VA Disability Pay Under House Bill

A new bill in the US House of Representatives would allow more veterans to receive both their full military pension and full Department of Veterans Affairs disability compensation at the same time, rather than having one payment offset against the other. Supporters say the change corrects a long-standing inequity for disabled veterans, while critics are expected to raise concerns about the cost of expanding concurrent receipt of benefits.

Why now: Lawmakers have proposed expanding veterans' benefits, a change that could affect thousands of retirees' finances.
