McSweeney's Satirizes the 'Good Guy with a Gun' Debate
Original: Only a Good Guy with a Gun
McSweeney's Internet Tendency has published a satirical piece titled 'Only a Good Guy with a Gun,' taking aim at the familiar American argument that armed civilians are the answer to gun violence. The piece uses humor to mock the slogan often invoked after mass shootings, joining the recurring national argument over guns, safety, and who should be allowed to carry weapons.
Why now: Gun control debates resurface in the US whenever the 'good guy with a gun' argument is invoked, making satire on the topic resonate widely.
