Trump attacks judge over DC golf course ruling
Original: Trump attacks judge who rejected DOJ's push to disqualify her from DC golf course litigation
Donald Trump publicly criticised a federal judge after she declined a Justice Department request to disqualify her from litigation involving his Washington DC golf course. The Justice Department had sought to remove her from the case, but she rejected the bid, prompting Trump's attack. Critics see the comments as fresh pressure on the judiciary over cases involving the president's business interests.
Why now: The president's public criticism of a judge handling litigation over his own business is widely seen as an attack on judicial independence.
