Original: Meta shuts down "#NoKings" account during major anti-Trump # protest https:// popular.info/p/meta-shuts-down -no-kings-a
Meta deactivated the Facebook account associated with the "No Kings" movement just as large anti-Trump demonstrations were taking place across the United States. The shutdown, reported by Popular Information, has drawn criticism from activists and press-freedom advocates who see it as suppression of protest organizing at a politically sensitive moment. Critics are calling on Meta to explain the decision and restore the account.
Why now: The takedown coincided with nationwide anti-Trump protests, raising concerns about censorship of political organizing on Meta platforms.
