Documents reported by WJCL show a Savannah, Georgia police officer gave her Flock license plate camera system login to her husband, an ICE agent. The case is drawing attention to concerns that surveillance tools intended for local policing may be shared with federal immigration authorities, in some cases against department policy or state restrictions, and to broader questions about oversight of who can access such databases.
Why now: It fuels ongoing debate about police surveillance data being used for immigration enforcement, a topic drawing renewed scrutiny.
