Russian Satellite Shadows U.S.-Registered Radar Satellite Linked to Ukraine Support
Original: Russian Satellite Approaches U.S.-Registered Radar Bird Supporting Ukraine
A Russian satellite has been observed maneuvering close to a U.S.-registered radar imaging satellite that is reportedly used to support Ukraine. Space-tracking specialists and defense watchers are discussing the approach, which highlights growing risks of close proximity operations in orbit and the vulnerability of commercial satellites supporting military operations in Ukraine.
Why now: Tensions over space assets used in the Ukraine war are rising, and close satellite approaches raise concerns about potential interference or escalation.
