Oregon farm pairs solar sunflowers with working lettuce fields
Original: Oregon farm uses six giant solar “sunflowers” that track the Sun while tractors and lettuce share the field
An Oregon farm has installed six giant solar arrays shaped like sunflowers that track the Sun throughout the day, while continuing to grow lettuce and run tractors on the same land. The setup combines renewable energy generation with active agriculture, showing how farmland can produce both food and clean power at once.
Why now: The unusual agrivoltaics design, pairing solar tracking structures with active crop farming, is drawing attention as a model for dual-use farmland.
