Gardener grows pomegranate tree from California White seed

Original: # gardening # jardin # garten # garden I grew this pomegranate from seed!! Its parent was “California White.” Pomegranat

A home gardener shared a pomegranate plant grown from seed of a 'California White' parent, noting that pomegranates do not come true from seed, though unlike apples their seedlings are not vastly inferior to the parent. The resulting plant is clearly not white-fruited, showing the variation seed-grown pomegranates can produce.

Why now: Home gardeners enjoy seeing the unpredictable results of growing fruit trees from seed.

• # gardening # jardin # garten # garden I grew this pomegranate from seed!! Its parent was “California White.” Pomegranates don’t come true from seed but seeds don’t produce vastly inferior fruit like the way apples do. Obviously this is no where close to being a white… · jblue@mastodon.world · 43
