Street medics in the spotlight amid French youth protests

Original: street medic

Street medics — volunteers who provide first aid at demonstrations — are drawing attention in France as protest activity continues. In Fontenay-le-Comte, high school students gave defiant speeches on 17 October, with Ouest-France quoting organisers saying the pupils 'give us a lesson in combative spirit.' As student mobilisations grow, so does scrutiny of volunteer medics who attend marches to treat injuries.

Why now: Ongoing student protests in France have put volunteer street medics and their role at demonstrations back in the public eye.
